LoRaWAN wireless positioning networking solution

No-4G-signal area
Construction vehicle positioning solution

For open-pit mines, remote construction sites, and other no-public-network areas, adopt a three-tier "vehicle-mounted LoRa locator + LoRa relay + LoRa base station" network; vehicle GPS position data is backhauled to the monitoring center via 470MHz LoRa wireless link, with no 4G dependency throughout.

01 / WHY

Why is LoRa networked positioning needed?

Traditional vehicle positioning relies on 4G networks, losing all connection in remote construction sites

📶

4G signal dead zone

Open-pit mines, mountain construction sites, forest areas, etc. lack public network coverage; ordinary GPS locators cannot backhaul data, leaving vehicle positions completely uncontrolled.

🏗️

Blind management of construction

Dump trucks, mining trucks, and construction machinery operation trajectories cannot be tracked; dispatch is difficult, fuel anomalies and unauthorized runs hard to supervise.

🔋

Demanding power supply and environment

Field dust, rain, and extreme temperatures are harsh; devices must have industrial-grade protection, low power, and maintenance-free long-term operation.

Three core hardware components

Vehicle locator · LoRa relay · LoRa base station, one set covers the full link

Vehicle-mounted LoRa locator
Vehicle end · data source

Vehicle-mounted LoRa locator (TD03)

GPS/BeiDou dual-mode positioning · solar charging · location data transmitted via 470MHz LoRa
  • Product model: TD03, frequency band 470MHz
  • Protection rating IP67, dustproof, rainproof, shockproof
  • Operating temperature -20°C to +60°C, suited for field environments
  • Solar charging + 3.7V dual power, long-term maintenance-free, no battery swap
  • Easy installation; simply attach or strap to the vehicle body
LoRa Relay TCS01
Link end · signal relay

LoRa Relay (TCS01)

Deployed between locator and base station; signal relay amplification for long-distance / obstructed scenarios
  • Bidirectional relay forwarding extends communication distance
  • IP67 industrial protection, long-term field deployment
  • -20℃ ~ +60℃ wide-temperature operation
  • 3.7V power (5V-250mA), low-power design
  • Supports multi-level cascading; flexible coverage expansion
LoRa Base Station
Aggregation end · network core

LoRa Base Station (Gateway)

Deployed at site high points / networked areas, aggregating all vehicle position data backhauled to platform
  • External high-gain antenna, coverage radius of several kilometers
  • Multi-channel concurrent reception, supports many vehicles
  • Uplink receives 470MHz LoRa signals
  • Backhaul to cloud platform via 4G/Ethernet
  • Wall-mount / pole-mount installation, IP67 protection suited for field use

Two typical networking modes

Flexible selection by site area and terrain; hybrid deployment possible

Mode 1: Direct networking (small-site construction)

Applicable: work area radius ≤ 3~5km, open view
Construction work area (no 4G) 🚚 🚛 🚜 📡 LoRa Base Station Mounted at high point 470MHz direct-to-base-station

All vehicle locators communicate directly with the base station — simplest structure, lowest cost. The base station is sited at the high point of the site, covering the entire work face with one station.

Mode 2: Relay networking (large area / terrain obstruction)

Applicable: distance beyond single-hop range, or mountain/tunnel obstruction
Mountain obstruction 🚚 📡 Relay TCS01 📡 Base station Hop 1 Hop 2

Deploy TCS01 relay at the high point between locator and base station; signal relay crosses obstructions and ultra-long distances; multi-level cascading as needed covers tens of kilometers along the work face.
