Smart Ranch · Cattle & Sheep Positioning Management

Smart Ranch Cattle & Sheep Positioning Management System
Collar Positioning + Find Cattle Even Without Network

Cattle and sheep wear dedicated collars (with integrated positioning terminals); positions are backhauled via 470 MHz LoRa to the ranch base station, with relays extending coverage in remote areas; the platform provides electronic fencing and lost-animal alarms. It also includes a handheld LoRa receiver—herders take it with their phone, and even in signal-less deep mountains can view nearby cattle and sheep positions; if needed, mount it on a drone to gain altitude for wider aerial signal coverage.

01 / WHY

Why Is Free-Range Cattle & Sheep Management Such a Headache?

High mountains and dense forests mean poor signal; lost cattle and horses are found on foot

🏔️

Remote, no signal

Ranches are mostly in mountains, grasslands and forest edges where phones and public networks have no year-round coverage; ordinary trackers cannot send data out, leaving cattle and sheep effectively “lost”.

🐂

Hard to find when lost, hard to manage when crossing boundaries

Freely grazing herds cover wide areas and move often; they cross into neighbors’ pastures or get lost in the mountains, and finding them on horseback over the hills is time-consuming and laborious.

🐑

Hard to take inventory and prevent disease

Large numbers and scattered distribution make headcount rely on roll call; estrus/calving/abnormal straggling are discovered late, affecting breeding and disease prevention.

02 / INNOVATION

Core Innovation: Handheld LoRa Receiver

Ground handheld + drone ascent, two usage modes—herders can find cattle nearby even without network

🚁 Aerial Receiver Drone-mounted · LoRa Relay 🐄 Collar LoRa Broadcast 📟 Receiver Receives LoRa · Pushes to Phone via Bluetooth 📱 BLE → Phone LoRa Uplink Aerial Relay Forwarding Bluetooth
📟 Off-Road Cattle-Finding Gadget

Handheld LoRa Receiver: Near-Field Offline Cattle Finding

Handheld ReceiverActively receives LoRa signals from nearby cattle and sheep collars, then viaBluetooth (BLE) broadcastto the herder’s phone. Herders ride motorcycles or walk out; the phone needs no public network signal—open the App to see the real-time direction and distance of nearby cattle and sheep, and follow the signal to find them.

🚁 Drone Aerial Relay:The receiver can also be mounted on a drone for ascent; at altitude with no obstruction, the signal is stronger and wider, able to receive LoRa signals from multiple cattle and sheep at once and forward them as an aerial relay to the ground handheld receiver or phone, quickly locating lost livestock over a wide area.

  • Offline cattle finding even in signal-less deep mountains/grasslands
  • Reception range covers collars within hundreds of meters nearby
  • 🚁 Can be mounted on a drone for ascent, wider aerial signal
  • Interoperable with the ranch’s fixed base station and platform data

One LoRa network, two usages + aerial relay:At the ranch base, cattle and sheep collar data is backhauled in real time via relay/base station to the platform for electronic fencing and lost-animal supervision; in the field, the herder’s handheld receiver receives nearby collar LoRa signals and pushes them to the phone via Bluetooth,Cattle can be found immediately even without public network; the receiver can further be mounted on a drone for ascent, serving as an aerial relay to receive and forward over a wide area,Lost livestock recovered faster. Both share the same data source and do not conflict.
